Getting Started in Project Ventura
Welcome to Project Ventura. This page will serve as a small tutorial on how to get started, including some landmark locations, how to gain XP, switch teams, and things like that.
This guide is a heavy work in progress, and things may be out of order or are subject to change.
Spawning In
When you first join Project Ventura, the game will put you through a small tutorial. Pay attention during this and take note of some of the information, as well as the locations, that it provides to you. It might be covered again in this guide, however it is helpful to know regardless.
After finishing the tutorial, it will ask you to select your character's first and last name, as well as a gender. Please do not use your real information under any circumstances. After selecting the information, it will load you into the actual map.
Small note: After selecting your gender, name, etc., I would suggest walking around for a couple minutes before rejoining the game. Sometimes, the game doesn't work properly when you load in fresh and select a new name and stuff.
After it spawns you onto the map, you will be at or in the vicinity of one of two locations: David's Auto Group or Kai's Certified Autos (previously Sped Autos). Both of these places are car dealerships, and are the only two in the game at which you can buy cars. I suggest buying a cheap car to start out with, as you don't want to crash and then be walking around for ages.
Gaining Experience
On the Citizen team, there are multiple ways to gain XP. Some of these ways are passive, but most of them require doing some sort of job, especially if you want to get tons of XP. Some of these consist of simply driving or walking around the map, playing the game, and working at stores.
For more specifics, you can work at places such as Cusick's Donuts, McDonald's, Subway, and Dominos. To get more information on how to work at those places, go to those links and there will be guides on how to do each one, as well as how to locate them.
Switching Teams
To switch teams in Project Ventura, go to the bottom left corner of your screen and click on the hamburger icon (2nd from left). Once done, it will open the team changer GUI. Most of the teams require a rank on the Citizen team before you can actually join.
For the Hayward County Fire, Ventura Health, and Strike P. Armory, you will need the Citizen rank, which is 500 XP on the Citizen team.
For Ventura Highway Patrol, Hayward County Sheriff's Department, and Florence City Police Department, you will need the Middle Class Citizen rank, which is 850 XP on the Citizen team.
For Ventura Bureau of Investigation, you'll need the Commander rank on the Florence City Police Department, which is 11,300 XP.
Founder's Edition VIP bypasses all team caps and XP requirements.
Cellphone and Payphones
In Project Ventura, there is a cellphone, payphone, and landline system in the game. They can be used to call other payphones, landlines, or players in the game. You can also use it to call 911.
To use a payphone or landline, simply walk up to it and interact with it. From there, you can scroll down the "Directory" list to find the phone number you want to call. All of the player numbers are listed in the actual in-game name and not their username, however, the phone number of a player correlates to their user ID. Once you found the number you want, type it in, and press call.
To use your cellphone, go to the bottom left and click the icon all the way to the right with the little phone icon. Click on the Phone app to enter any number and call them. You will need to know the number of the person, or place, you're trying to call.
If you have someone friended in the game, you can go to the Contacts app on your phone, select them, and press the Call button to call them.
Gaining Firearms
Getting a firearm in Project Ventura isn't that hard. You can either get a legal or illegal firearm. One is sold at a gun store, the other is sold by some random guy you just met.
To start off with getting a legal firearm, you can navigate to the strip of stores that is located east from Supermall and Cusick's Donuts. It's also the strip that includes McDonald's, Subway, and Dominos. Once there, navigate to the right side of the strip. You can find a shop called Strikepoint, and it's typically open.
Walk inside, and go to the front counter. If someone isn't there, you probably can't get a gun. You can try waiting, otherwise, you're probably out of luck. If someone comes there, you can ask them questions such as the type of guns they have, prices, and things like that.
Getting illegal firearms is more expensive, and harder to access. I won't be going over illegal firearms in this guide, sadly, but you can ask around and try to figure out where to get them.
Open carry is illegal in Ventura. This means you may not have a firearm in public view. Due to this, things like shotguns and rifles that display on your avatar can't be walked around with.
Utilizing your Inventory
To use your inventory, it's easy! Simply press the Backtick (`) key. You can't be sitting in a car or other seat, otherwise it won't work. Once opened, you will see a list of all your tools.
To re-arrange your inventory, simply click on the tool you want to move and press a number key (1-0) on your keyboard to set it to that key. Shockingly, I've heard multiple people asking how to move things in their inventory, so I thought I would include this.
